Mind is What Really Matters

I’ve been away from the masses for a while. Regaining my mental composure as I return to work and support my daughter in her return to “in-person” learning.

Lately this thing called life has been hitting me hard and many days (and nights) I’ve been left overwhelmed by both my exhaustion and my frustration.

Like so many of the courageous women whom I counsel in the Wellness Tribe, I’ve been questioning my abilities lately, namely my (in)ability to manage “it” all and maintain my Wellness practices.

Consequently, I find myself reverting back to old tendencies of second guessing my decisions, reflecting on trauma triggers and losing hope in the brilliance of my Light.

I could go on to describe my heightened anxiety in traffic, increased depression about my job and lack of creativity in my business but the long and short of it is…I’ve lost my willingness to try because I’m consumed with feelings of fatigue and disappointment.

So how did I get out of my rut, you ask…I haven’t. I’m choosing to ACCEPT the fullness of my feelings in this season of change.

See, my three year Wellness Journey has taught me to embrace my feelings as they reflect my authentic wants and needs.

And the more I accept the truth of my experience, the more I ALLOW for change to take shape organically in my life. As a former control freak, that’s a big deal and a big decision to make intentionally.

With my choice to accept and allow comes a new found appreciation for the art of SURRENDER. In my past experiences I struggled to surrender because I was afraid that this meant I was giving up and/ or accepting defeat but now I know better.

I choose to surrender because I trust in the Greater Power who governs my life and I know that surrendering is about Being Still not Doing Less.

How do I reframe my mindset in the mist of adjusting to my “new normal” life post quarantine?

I Accept…I Allow…I Surrender

Because frankly my old ways of coping and compensating have never proved effective.

In my opinion, the best way to get through the emotional challenges associated with life’s changes is to get through without trying to avoid, deny or diminish.

My #1 Coaching Core Belief reminds us that Self-Awareness is a Deliberate Action.

The more we are honest about our inability to adjust to change the more able we will become.
